Two Big Walk players communicating in the game world
Platform answer

Does Big Walk have local multiplayer?

Fact-checked Aug 11, 2026Official FAQ + Steam feature listing

Quick answer: Big Walk is listed as online co-op, not local co-op. People in the same home need separate devices and should play in separate rooms to preserve the in-game communication design.

No split-screen or shared-screen feature is listed

Steam marks Big Walk as Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. It does not list Shared/Split Screen Co-op. The official FAQ also describes joining over platform friends or a Join Code, not adding a second controller to one device.

Same home is supported—with separate rooms

House House explicitly says people in the same house or apartment can play if each has a device and they remain in separate rooms. This preserves proximity voice, muffled walls and moments when a puzzle intentionally prevents normal communication. Sitting side by side would reveal information the game is designed to block.

What each player needs

Each person needs access to Big Walk on a supported device and the online entitlement required by that console account. One player hosts; the others join through the friend list or Join Code. Cross-play means the devices do not all have to be the same platform.

Cost implication for a household

Because the documented same-house setup uses separate devices rather than a shared screen, budget for separate game access per player. Steam lists Family Sharing as a feature, but family-library concurrency rules can change; do not assume one Steam licence can run simultaneously on two computers without checking Steam’s current terms.

If rooms are close together

Use closed doors and headphones so microphones do not capture voices from the next room. If voices double, the official FAQ recommends identifying the feedback source by muting players one at a time and switching from speakers to headphones.
